Annual AppealStrong Communities Are Built On Safe Blood. Miller-Keystone Blood Center is privileged to have volunteer blood donors who roll up their sleeves to provide the community with the gift of life, and we remain grateful to all the volunteers who donate their time or talent to ensure a safe and productive blood center. However, Miller-Keystone needs financial support to achieve our goals as well. The Blood Center has designated the funds from our 2008-2009 Annual Appeal toward the purchase of an Olympus AU400 Chemistry Analyzer. To help monitor and improve the health and wellness of our volunteer blood donors, MKBC has historically extended a free total cholesterol screening to each and every donor that comes through our doors. However, our previous cholesterol screening equipment was rendered obsolete in June 2008 because it is not compatible with a new Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandated labeling system. Therefore, we are currently unable to offer our donors this complementary service. By keeping our volunteer donors healthy, we increase the chances of turning them into successful repeat donors, which will directly assist us in fulfilling our life-saving mission. Since our role is so critical to community well-being, it is imperative that MKBC stay up-to-date with innovative, yet practical, technology. On the cholesterol screening front, that technology is the Olympus AU400 Chemistry Analyzer, which is able to process 400 total cholesterol tests per hour. The acquisition of the Olympus AU400 will allow MKBC to better serve both our volunteer blood donors and the recipients of our blood products by providing the following benefits:
Our goal is to raise $65,000 over the next year to underwrite the purchase of our new Olumpus AU400 Chemistry Analyzer, and this type of support is a 100% tax-deductible gift or pledge. We hope you will consider making a contribution to Miller-Keystone Blood Center. Through your support and generosity, we can remain a pillar of the community. 2008-09 Annual AppealClick here to donate with your credit card. For more information, contact Sandra D.
